In 2018 the Clean Energy Council de-listed all JFY inverters from its approved products list after a model failed testing against AS 4777-2, the Australian grid-connection standard. What de-listing does and does not mean
The 2018 de-listing is widely misunderstood. Removing JFY from the Clean Energy Council’s approved products list governs what may be newly installed under CEC rules. It does not compel you to remove a functioning inverter, and it does not by itself make your system unsafe. What it does tell you is that a unit failed testing against AS 4777-2, the standard covering how an inverter behaves when the grid misbehaves. That is a reasonable argument against spending money to keep a marginal JFY unit in service, but not a reason to panic about one that is working.

Why were JFY inverters de-listed?

De-listing applies to new installations; it does not require you to remove a working unit.
Do I have to replace my JFY inverter even if it still works?
No. A de-listing affects what can be newly installed, not what is already in service. But when the unit does fail, replacing it is the sensible outcome rather than pursuing a repair with no parts or support behind it.
Is there any warranty?
JFY no longer has an Australian presence, so a manufacturer claim is not realistic. If your original installer is still trading they may retain an obligation, which is worth checking if you still have the paperwork.
My JFY inverter still works. Should I replace it proactively?
Not on the grounds of the de-listing alone. A working, correctly installed inverter is not made unsafe by a product being removed from an approved list for new installations. The argument for replacing early is different: there is no support, no parts, and no warranty, so when it does fail you will be replacing it anyway, without choosing the timing. If the unit is old and showing intermittent faults, planning the replacement beats being forced into it.
