What’s included
What a maintenance visit includes
We clean solar panels as part of a maintenance visit, not as a stand-alone wash. That’s deliberate. If someone is going to get on your roof, it should be a solar technician who also checks the isolators, the cabling and the inverter, and tests that the system is producing what it should. You get clean panels, and you hear about problems before they turn into repairs.
- Cleaning the panels with purified water and soft brushes, with no detergents and no pressure washer
- Checking every panel for cracks, discolouration and hot spots
- Checking the rooftop DC isolators for water inside, heat damage and UV cracking on the housings
- Checking the mounting rails, clamps, cable ties and conduit
- Checking the inverter’s fault history, cooling fans, heatsink and connections
- Testing each string’s voltage and insulation, which picks up developing earth faults
- Recording the output before and after the clean, so you can see the difference
- Photos and a short report. If anything needs fixing, we price it and you decide.
When it matters
When cleaning makes a difference
Most tilted panels in Perth get a reasonable rinse once winter rain arrives. Cleaning makes the biggest difference when:
- your panels are flat or only slightly tilted, so rain sits on them instead of rinsing them
- you live near the coast, where salt spray builds up on the glass
- you’re near a main road, farmland, bushland or a building site, which all add dust
- birds perch on the array or roost underneath it, because droppings block whole cells
- your monitoring shows output dropping and there’s no fault to explain it
Why a technician
Why a technician, not a window cleaner
Anyone with a brush can wash glass. What a window cleaner won’t do is test your isolators, pick up the early signs of an earth fault, or notice that the inverter’s fans are failing. Those are the problems that end in a dead system on a hot January afternoon.
It’s also about the roof itself. Walking on panels can crack the cells inside them without leaving a mark you can see. The DC cabling stays live whenever the sun is on the panels. And pressure washers, abrasive pads and harsh chemicals can damage the coating on the glass and may void the panel warranty.
If you’d like to rinse your panels between visits, our guide to cleaning solar panels safely covers what you can do from the ground.
Pricing
What it costs
We price a maintenance visit, including the panel clean, on the size of your system and your roof, and we’ll give you a fixed price when you book. If the visit turns up a fault, we quote the repair separately and you decide whether to go ahead.
For comparison, Perth cleaning companies that only wash panels usually charge per panel with a minimum call-out. One advertises from $5 a panel with a $120 minimum (September 2026). Our price includes the safety and performance checks as well.

How often
How often?
For most Perth homes, a maintenance visit every one to two years is enough. Near the coast, or where birds are a problem, a yearly visit before summer keeps output where it should be.
Solar hot water systems have their own service schedule. See solar hot water service costs.
Birds
Birds under your panels?
If pigeons are nesting under your array, a clean only fixes the problem until they come back. The droppings return, the nesting material traps heat and debris against the roof, and the birds can damage cabling. Bird-proofing mesh around the edge of the array keeps them out for good.
FAQs
Common questions
Do you clean solar panels without a maintenance visit?
No. We clean panels as part of a maintenance visit, so every clean comes with a safety and performance check of the whole system.
How much does solar panel cleaning cost in Perth?
Panel-only washes from cleaning companies start around $5 a panel, with minimum charges around $120. Our maintenance visit includes the clean and a full system check, and we’ll give you a fixed price when you book.
How often should solar panels be maintained?
Every one to two years suits most Perth homes. Near the coast, or where birds roost on the panels, once a year before summer is better.
Does rain clean solar panels?
Mostly, if they’re tilted. Winter rain rinses dust off tilted panels reasonably well, but it doesn’t shift bird droppings, and flat panels hold onto dirt and water.
Will cleaning void my panel warranty?
Not if it’s done with water and soft brushes. Harsh chemicals, abrasive pads and pressure washers can, so check your panel manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.
